ZigBee is the Smart choice
at Santa Clara

Telegesis last week attended
the ZigBee Expo which formed part of the
Connectivity Week exhibition at the Hyatt Regency
Hotel in Santa Clara, CA from 20-22 May. Business
Development Director, Ollie Smith, joined the Ember
Corporation team as the two companies shared a stand
at the exhibition that ran for the full three days
of the event. Many of the leading companies and
experts from the energy and utility industry were
present with ZigBee being one of the hot topics of
the week.
“It was a very successful week
and particularly for ZigBee,” said Ollie. “There was
a huge drive for all technologies that could
contribute towards the better monitoring and control
of electricity and other utility use – but the
interest in ZigBee was the most
notable.”
Traction for
the mesh networking technology was given added
impetus with the announcement on Tuesday 19th
May by the ZigBee Alliance of the first 19 products
certified on the new Smart Energy Profile. Comverge,
Energate, Tendril, Greenbox, PRI and Trilliant were
among those companies that have already succeeded in
certifying finished products in the intelligent
metering arena on the Smart Energy profile.
Smart Energy
is based upon the new ZigBee PRO feature set. All
Telegesis modular products will be shipped with
ZigBee PRO from June 08 onwards.
