PLOGG can monitor
whole site loads up
to 200 amps

Plogg ZGB(Zigbee) smart plug uses
the Telegesis ETRX2 module and is
intended as a primary demand and
response tool. Energy Optimizers Ltd
has built a reputation in this field.
The Plogg can also be used with an
external CT up to 200 amp to measure
whole house energy consumption.

"A customer in Estonia is measuring electrical energy consumption at
four different farms with milking cows. There are 600 to 1200 cows at
each farm and also some heifers. In most farms there is more than one
cow-shed with the electrical energy supplied from one substation (2x400
kVA transformers). There is more than one power line (cable) from the substation to several distribution boxes placed in the service rooms of the sheds

The purpose is to measure the whole electrical energy demand and its dynamics for each farm and to get the consumption of most important technological processes separately (milking, milk cooling, water supply, water heating, lighting, manure removing, ventilation and some other important functions within the farms). To achieve this they are using 3-phase electrical energy quality analyzer (Prova 6830) at the substation and up to 50 Ploggs in the distribution boxes – some 3-phase consumer groups (processes) may be measured by 1-phase logging (if the load is symmetrical), some need three Ploggs (one per each phase line), some groups are 1-phase consumers. To lessen the necessary amount of the devices, they are measuring the whole consumption of several groups and the individual demand of more important consumers grouping the rest as “Other” and getting their demand by subtraction the known demand of most important groups from the sum.
The results are saved with 15 min interval and it is planned to get the complete data series for one year for further analysis of possible energy savings in the future."
