Telegesis is pleased to be associated as a sponsor of a Smart Home initiative designed to dramatically improve the quality of life of sufferers from severe physical disabilities.
The project - known as BrainAble - is partially funded by the European Union and sets out to improve both direct and indirect interaction between disabled people and their homes.
The Brain Computer Interface (BNCI) developed by MetiCube and their project partners is an extension of exciting developments in Human-Computer Interfaces. These systems enable an intelligent Virtual Reality-based user interface with avatars and scenarios that will help those living with Motor Neurone disease or serious physical and brain injury to move around freely within their homes. Interaction with the patients surroundings is further enhanced by adding intelligence to the devices around them via the development of Ambient Intelligence (AmI).
The BrainAble initiative aims to produce a commercial product and a set of technologies intended to assist people with severe physical disabilities. The technology has the potential to produce true user-centered bio-interfaces and interactive immersive environments to deliver intelligent and integrated smart homes
