    • ETRX357 Power Consumption
      • This document gives an overview of common activities and the resulting power consumption to aid calculating the overall battery life. The firmware used to trigger these activities is based on the ZigBee PRO stack Ember ZNet 4.5.2., and the device type is a sleepy end device. The power consumption shown includes any time taken to wake up from deep sleep and go back to this state after completing the described task.

    • Achievable data rates with ETRX2 and ETRX357 modules
      • Although the data rate of 2.4GHz ZigBee devices is sometimes quoted as 250kb/s, this is the data rate within a radio packet. The payload is only part of the packet, and with a short message it may be a relatively small part. In addition it is not possible for a device to transmit 100% of the time since there is a maximum packet length, packets require acknowledgements at both 802.15.4 and ZigBee application layers, and the bandwidth must be shared with network management messages.

    • Accessing Modules over the Internet using EAP
      • The serial port of the ETRX2 and ETRX357 modules can be connected to an Ethernet network via a suitable adaptor such as a Lantronix XPort Direct+, which is the basis of the EAP-E device. It is then simple to communicate with the module, either using a HyperTerminal connection directly to its IP address or by using the Lantronix COM Port Redirector to map the IP address to a virtual COM port.
